It is a fact that the odds of winning against the house are better if you play a single deck game. However, this advantage can be negated if your payout is significantly lower than it would be with a classic 3:2 game. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happens with the standard 6:5 game.

Many people assume that the 6:5 games are roughly the same payout as the 3:2 games. Unfortunately, this couldn’t be farther from the truth. 3:2 games payout 5 to 1 odds. 6:5 games, on the other hand, only payout 2 to 1 odds. In terms of dollars, that’s significant!
If you don’t understand the significance of your loss in terms of odds, it may help to examine it in terms of dollars. In a traditional 3:2 game, if you bet $10 and get blackjack, you’ll walk away with $15. If you bet the same amount for a 6:5 game, however, you’ll only get $12. That’s a $3 loss! It may not seem like that much upfront, but when you continue to play for hours it makes a big difference.
Where to Play 3:2 Games
6:5 blackjack games are increasing in popularity, but that doesn’t mean 3:2 blackjack games are nonexistent. In many of the main strip casinos, you’ll only be able to play 3:2 games if you’re able to bet $100 a hand or more. Ouch! Fortunately, there are still many casinos that value the traditional version of blackjack.
